What is PDF Tools?
PDF Tools is a free, fast, and secure suite of online utilities for working with PDF files — merge, compress, sign, convert, and more, all in your browser.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Every tool works without sign-up. Create an account only if you want to save history or unlock larger file sizes.
Which devices and browsers are supported?
PDF Tools works on any modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari — across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
Security & Privacy
Are my files uploaded to a server?
For most tools, processing happens locally in your browser — your files never leave your device. When server processing is required (e.g. heavy OCR), files are encrypted in transit, processed, and permanently deleted within one hour.
Is my data sold or shared?
Never. We do not sell, rent, or share your documents or personal data with third parties. See our Privacy Policy.
How secure is digital signing?
Digital signatures use industry-standard PKI (RSA / ECDSA) with X.509 certificates. Each signature is tamper-evident and verifiable offline.

What's the maximum file size?
Free plan: 25 MB per file. Pro plan: 200 MB. For batch operations, Pro also unlocks larger aggregate uploads.
Can I compress a PDF to an exact size?
You can set a target size (e.g. 2 MB or 500 KB). We'll optimize as close as possible — exact size depends on content complexity and is never guaranteed.
What formats can I convert to/from?
PDF ↔ Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG, PNG, HTML. Output preserves layout, fonts, and images at the highest fidelity available.
Is there a limit on the number of files I can merge?
Free: up to 10 files. Pro: up to 100 files per merge. The total page count is unlimited.
